The top rookie contributor for the Bears over the past few games, FS Chris Conte, made his fifth straight start and recorded four tackles Sunday in the Bears' win over the Chargers. Conte, a third-round pick, plays very deep off the line of scrimmage, so it was no surprise that all four of his stops came on gains of 13 yards or longer.

Second-round pick Stephen Paea was involved in the rotation at nose tackle and made one tackle, stopping Chargers FB Jacob Hester for a gain of only one yard.

Undrafted rookie LB Dom DeCicco made two tackles on kickoff returns, which gives him 11 special-teams tackles this season. S Winston Venable, another undrafted rookie contributing on special teams, also made a stop on a kickoff return in his first game on the active roster since Week Five.

DE Mario Addison, who signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in the offseason, was active for the third time this season on Sunday but recorded no stats in the game and was waived on Monday as the Bears cleared roster space. Head coach Lovie Smith indicated Monday that the team was looking into adding a veteran quarterback to back up Caleb Hanie while Jay Cutler is out, so it doesn't appear that rookie QB Nathan Enderle, a fifth-round pick, will be the primary backup for Hanie.
