With four wins in their last five games, the Broncos are surging thanks in large part to QB Tim Tebow. The 2010 first-round pick has been a spark both throwing and running the ball, helping the team get within a game of first place in the AFC West.

Tebow's play has encouraged Broncos fans, but still has a long way of going to impress the team's front office. Speaking on his weekly radio show, Denver VP of football operations John Elway was asked if Tebow's play had the Broncos any closer to feeling they had a long-term answer at quarterback on the roster.

"No," Elway said, according to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.

"I think obviously he's making progress week in and week out. When you look at our third down numbers, those have to improve. I mean, that's the bottom line," Elway said. "We can't go 3-for-13 (on third down conversions) and win a world championship. Those are the type of things we have to keep improving."

Elway's actions are speaking as loud as his words. He and GM Brian Xanders were in Waco, Texas over the weekend scouting the Oklahoma at Baylor game. The matchup features two QBs expected to be drafted highly next April, the Sooners' Landry Jones and Robert Griffin III of Baylor.
