After trade rumors and a groin injury that cost him the entire training camp and preseason and the first two games of the season, it would have been a major speculation to predict a big season from CB Terence Newman. But that's exactly what the Cowboys have received from Newman, 33, in his ninth season. He has four interceptions, including three in his past two games, and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said Newman is playing at a Pro Bowl level. Confidence is a big factor, but health is the difference. In the past when Newman has been playing hurt, he is a shell of himself and often doesn't perform with the same urgency and confidence. But healthy, Newman breaks on the ball quickly, stands up to physically imposing receivers and makes more plays on the ball, knowing when to break on the ball and try to go for the pick. Also, knowing Ryan's defensive scheme better has helped Newman, who has come on strong since the New England game.
