Michael Vick suffered two broken ribs on the second play of the Week 10 loss to the Cardinals, and his status is unknown for the Sunday-night game against the Giants.

But if Vick cannot go, the Eagles would turn to Vince Young as the starter, a team source told PFW Thursday.

There had been talk of Mike Kafka possibly taking Vick's spot. It was Kafka who replaced Vick against the Falcons after Vick suffered a concussion. In that game, Kafka completed 7-of-9 passes for 72 yards in the 35-31 loss in Atlanta. But Kafka struggled badly in limited action the following week when Vick left the game against the Giants in Week Three, throwing two interceptions in seven pass attempts.

Young was not available then because he was rehabbing from a hamstring injury suffered in the preseason finale. There had been reports of Young and Kafka splitting reps this week in practice.

The source indicated they would go with the "one with (more) experience" in Young against the Giants if Vick was not ready. On the season, Young is 0-for-1 passing (an interception against the Redskins) and has one rush for two yards in two brief appearances this season. His biggest contribution to the Eagles — if you can call it that — has been coining the "Dream Team" nickname for the Eagles that has been universally mocked during the team's 3-6 start.
