The Vikings have placed CB Antoine Winfield on injured reserve after breaking his clavicle on Monday, and signed CB Benny Sapp to take his roster spot, the team announced Wednesday.
Sapp played and started one game for the Dolphins this season, a season-opening loss to the Patriots. He recorded five tackles and one pass defensed. This will be Sapp's second stint with the Vikings, as he spent 2008 and 2009 with the club.
Winfield broke his clavicle in Monday's loss to the Packers, which was his first game since Week Four because of a neck injury. Winfield has 40 tackles, one interception and one sack this season.
The Way We See It
The Vikings have a lot of secondary problems and this only makes it worse. With Chris Cook's legal troubles, the Vikings have now lost their two top corners.
Sapp was cut after the season-opener by the Dolphins after their secondary was shredded by the Patriots. Sapp has experience in this system and right now the Vikings need any help they can get in the secondary.
