Respondents to a PFW web poll asking, "Who is the defensive MVP of the first half of the season?" believe that Vikings DE Jared Allen earned that honor.

Allen, who is on pace to break Michael Strahan's record for most sacks in a season (22½), earned 28.3 percent of the responses to the poll question. That edged out Jets CB Darrelle Revis (24.8 percent) and Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware (21.5 percent), who also is on pace to break Strahan's record.

Coming in fourth in the poll was Ravens DT Haloti Ngata, generally regarded as the top talent on a fierce Baltimore defense. Ngata grabbed 16.8 percent of the vote. A fellow AFC North defender, Steelers S Troy Polamalu, finished fifth in the voting, with 8.7 percent.
