Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis has a torn ACL and will be placed on injured reserve, the team announced Monday.

Mathis suffered the injury during the second quarter of Jacksonville's Week 10 victory over the Colts. It was a non-contact injury, as Mathis' knee just turned the wrong way when he planted his foot in the ground while running. Mathis had to be helped off the field by teammates and was carted into the locker room.

The nine-year vet, who is in the final year of his contract, has been a fixture on the Jaguars' defense since being drafted in 2003. This season he has one interception and four passes defensed.

Head coach Jack Del Rio also annoucned that rookie LB Kyle Bosworth (hand injury) and OT Eben Britton (back injury) would also be placed on I.R.

In other roster moves, he team signed TE Fendi Onobun from the Redskins' practice squad to their active roster and TE Colin Cloherty to the practice squad. TE Schuylar Oordt was cut from the practice squad.

The way we see it

Jacksonville's secondary will need to replace the team's top corner and one of its smartest defenders. It is expected that Will Middleton will replace Mathis in the starting lineup.
