The Bears announced roster moves on Monday after defeating the Lions, 37-13, on Sunday.

Chris Williams was placed on injured reserve, as expected, after undergoing wrist surgery to repair an injury he suffered Sunday. Chicago also waived backup DE Nick Reed and signed DE Chauncey Davis to a two-year deal.

Davis, a seventh-year veteran, was cut by the Falcons before the season. He spent six seasons with Atlanta, making 25 starts and recording 10 sacks.

Reed played in seven games for the Bears and was credited with six tackles. He was inactive Sunday against the Lions.

The Bears have one roster spot available and it likely will be filled by an offensive lineman.

The way we see it

The Bears have been searching for a third defensive end to step into the rotation and provide quality snaps to spell Julius Peppers and Israel Idonije. The hope was that Corey Wootton would fill that role, but he has battled injuries all season and has played in only one game. Davis, a fourth-round pick in 2005, and undrafted rookie Mario Addison, who saw significant time vs. the Lions, will compete for snaps in the rotation.
