Vikings' young DBs could come to forefront

With a decision coming very soon on the status of CB Chris Cook, who remains embroiled in a domestic assault case, the Vikings could look to some of their younger defensive backs to play more. There are other reasons that could happen. The play of the safeties and RCB Cedric Griffin has been below par, and in some games it has been bad. With CB Antoine Winfield likely to re-enter the lineup in Week 10 against the Packers, Griffin could lose his starting spot eventually. Asher Allen has stood up well, but the team wants to see what it has in young CBs Marcus Sherels and Brandon Burton. Sherels has shown some promise and is ahead of Burton in terms of progress. At safety, Husain Abdullah has taken a step back, and the platoon of Jamarca Sanford and Tyrell Johnson has borne only mediocre results. One option there could be to give reps to Mistral Raymond, who showed some promise in the preseason.
