While one member of the Titans' secondary, CB Cortland Finnegan, continues making a strong argument for being re-signed when his contract expires this offseason, another member, FS Michael Griffin, will have to elevate his play in the second half of the season to convince Titans' brass he is part of its future plans. Griffin, who turns 27 in early January, has been to two Pro Bowls since Tennessee selected him with the 19th pick of the 2007 draft, but he has been far too inconsistent during his tenure in Nashville. According to a team source, defensive coordinator Jerry Gray is putting Griffin in excellent positions to be successful, but the supremely gifted athlete continues to be hesitant and indecisive in coverage. Starting SS Chris Hope, also in the final year of his deal, has missed the previous six games with a broken forearm, but returned to practice this week and could be back in the starting lineup soon.
