Rams playing musical chairs at WR position

A wide range of changes continue to take place at wide receiver for the Rams, who are hoping the addition of Mark Clayton, who was finally activated off the physically-unable-to-perform list, will offset the season-ending loss of rookie Greg Salas. Salas had shown steady improvement in the slot in place of the injured Danny Amendola and was the team leader in receptions when he broke his leg late in the loss to the Cardinals. Salas is expected to be replaced primarily by fellow rookie Austin Pettis, although we hear it's quite possible Clayton, who played the slot his first two seasons in Baltimore, could see action at that position. After struggling early, Pettis has come on a bit, both as a receiver and as a punt returner. "He's playing faster, and not thinking things out as much," one daily team observer said of Pettis. "He's not as good after the catch as Salas, but he can really snatch the ball."
