Both The Associated Press and the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel are reporting that another stock sale of the Packers could be taking place as soon as next week. AP cited a letter published on the Utah Department of Commerce's website from a law firm representing the Packers requesting feedback from state regulators on a proposed stock sale that would begin "on or around" Nov. 15. Both AP and the Journal-Sentinel reported that shares may be sold online and may cost $250 per share.
This would be the fifth stock sale for the Packers, the NFL's only publicly owned team. This one would raise funds for $143 million in Lambeau Field renovations and improvements. There are 112,205 shareholders who own approximately 4.75 million shares. Shares include voting rights, but their value won't appreciate and there are no dividends.
The Packers have not sold stock since 1997-98, at which time shares were sold at $200 each.
