The Patriots officially cut DT Albert Haynesworth, as well as TE Dan Gronkowski, and added WR Tiquan Underwood.
Underwood was with the Patriots for the last week of training camp before being released on Sept. 3. He had eight catches for 111 yards and returned kicks for the Jaguars last season.
Gronkowski, Rob's brother, was with the Patriots for the first two games of the season before being cut. He rejoined the team on Oct. 11.
The Patriots also released OT Thomas Welch from the practice squad. Welch played in three games with the Patriots as an extra tight end.

The way we see it
With Sebastian Vollmer healthy and able to start at right tackle, rookie Nate Solder has been used as the team's extra tight end to block on run plays, making Gronkowski expendable. The Patriots are 30th in the league on kickoff returns and may give Underwood a shot there to try to ignite the return game.
