As has been the case most of the season up to now, no Packers rookie made much of an impact in the win over San Diego, aside from second-rounder Randall Cobb.
As for Cobb, after starting off the season as though he had Rookie of the Year potential with a two-TD prime-time debut against the Saints, he has cooled off a great deal since then. Cobb ranks second in the NFL in kickoff returns with a 29.1-yard average (just one-tenth of a yard behind Niners KR Ted Ginn), but his 108-yard opening-night kickoff return for a TD is greatly responsible for his high ranking. In the meantime, Cobb has only nine catches for 152 yards as a receiver in the last seven games.
Against San Diego, Cobb's impact was solely as a kick returner. He had five kickoff returns for 128 yards and a long of 30 and one punt return for 11 yards.
Other than what Cobb provided, contributions from Green Bay rookies were minimal in San Diego. Seventh-round TE Ryan Taylor had an adventurous afternoon on special teams, making two tackles while also letting a successful onside kick by the Chargers roll between his legs.
Undrafted rookie RB Brandon Saine, activated off the practice squad to replace third-round RB Alex Green (injured reserve), registered one special-teams tackle Sunday.
First-round OT Derek Sherrod was activated Sunday but did not play.
