Patriots LB Brandon Spikes has an MCL strain, an MRI determined on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Spikes is considered "week to week" with the injury. He suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Giants.
The second-year player was inactive in Week One but has 44 tackles in seven games.
The way we see it
Any games without Spikes will be difficult for the Patriots, as their linebacking corps is banged up and Spikes had been a bright spot. Jerod Mayo is just getting back to 100 percent and Dane Fletcher has been out lately. Spikes, who is very good against the run, also had been used on blitzes. Expect Gary Guyton and Fletcher, if healthy, to fill in with Spikes out.
