Eagles plan to manage McCoy's touches

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy has touched the ball 62 times in the past two games, a total that Brian Westbrook never reached in Philadelphia, not even in his Pro Bowl 2007 season in which he had 278 carries and 90 receptions. Head coach Andy Reid clearly feels that McCoy can handle the load better than the slightly smaller Westbrook could, but Reid must be careful. Westbrook's '08 season was not nearly as good, possibly because of the increased workload from the season before. McCoy, 23, is younger than Westbrook (who was 27 in 2007) was at that point and is a tough athlete who has said he can take the punishment. He also doesn't have the knee injury history that Westbrook did prior to his decline. Reid said that McCoy's boundless energy in the locker room, in practice and during games tells him that his young back wants to continue to be fed the ball at a high rate.
