The NFL has awarded their Players and Rookies of the Month for October.

Arian Foster of the Texans was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month after leading the league in total yardage (809 yards) during October. Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley, who had 7½ sacks in the month, was named the top defensive player in the conference, and Jets KR Joe McKnight, who had a 107-yard kickoff return for a TD, was given the award for being the top special-teams player.

The AFC Rookie of the Month for October is Bengals QB Andy Dalton. The second-round pick threw four TDs in helping Cincinnati to a 4-0 record during the month.

In the NFC, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers won his third consecutive Offensive Player of the Month award going back to last season after throwing for 12 touchdowns during October. He and Barry Sanders are the only two players to win the award three months in a row.

Vikings DE Jared Allen, who led the NFL with eight sacks during the month, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month. The special-teams award in the conference went to Devin Hester of the Bears, the only player in the league to return a kickoff and punt for a TD during October.

49ers rookie OLB Aldon Smith was named the top rookie in the NFC. He had 6½ sacks in October.
