Panthers practice squad LB Lawrence Wilson was arrested on Wednesday for possession of marijuana, the Salisbury (N.C.) Post first reported.
Wilson, a rookie sixth-round pick, was stopped on Interstate 85 for speeding on Wednesday afternoon. When police officers noticed the smell of marijuana, they asked the player to put his hands behind his back. Wilson began to "tense up" and "would not comply" with the officers requests, according to the report. The Panthers are on bye this week, and Wilson told the police he "had a break from his job."
The report also states that after the arrest was made, Wilson began to cry and asked the officers what this was going to do to his career.
The Panthers declined to comment about the incident.
