Here's a look at a key matchup heading into Monday night's battle between the Bears and Eagles.
Bears RB Matt Forté vs. Eagles run defense
Philadelphia's run defense has shown improvement over the past two games after giving up 102 yards rushing or more in each of the first five games of the season and at least 138 yards rushing in all but one of the first five games.
It's incumbent upon the Eagles' linebackers to continue making strides Monday night, but the team might give them some help and move a safety toward the line of scrimmage frequently to counter the strength of the Bears' offense. Defensive coordinator Juan Castillo could opt to put eight defenders in the box and play man coverage in the secondary in an effort to stop Forté, who is clearly Chicago's top weapon.
He leads the league in yards from scrimmage (1,091) and has accounted for 46.2 percent of Chicago's offense through seven games.
Forté is a strong runner with good size and instincts. He has carried the offense, fighting for tough yardage and the new contract he's seeking.
The Eagles' focus Monday night likely will be bottling him up and forcing the Bears' receivers to make plays.
