The Browns have signed RB Thomas Clayton. His agent, J.R. Rickert, confirmed the news on his website Tuesday.
Clayton, 27, appeared in two games for Cleveland in 2010, carrying once. He most recently was with Seattle.
The addition of Clayton comes as the Browns look to bolster their RB depth with Montario Hardesty (calf) expected to miss at least Week Nine and Peyton Hillis (hamstring) on the mend as well. Clayton could back up Chris Ogbonnaya, who figures to start at Houston on Sunday.
To create room on the roster, the Browns released WR Brian Robiskie.
