The Bears have claimed LB Jabara Williams off waivers from the Rams, the team announced Thursday.

Williams, who played collegiately at Stephen F. Austin, was selected by the Rams in the seventh round of this year's draft and played in two games before being waived.

He adds depth at linebacker for the Bears — a position where the Bears have been thin this season — and will likely contribute on special teams.

In PFW's 2011 Draft Preview, PFW draft expert Nolan Nawrocki wrote that Williams is an "athletic, slip-and-avoid, run-and-hit linebacker who played inside but projects best to weak side and will pique the interest of Tampa-2 teams that could best utilize his speed, range and cover skills."
