The Chargers have placed OLB Larry English on season-ending injured reserved, the team announced Wednesday.
English suffered a broken foot in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Jets. To replace English on the roster, the Chargers signed OT Stephen Schilling from the practice squad.
English, a first-round pick out of Northern Illinois in the 2009 draft, has two sacks through five games this season.
The way we see it
English has been a disappointment since he was drafted in 2009. Expected to team with OLB Shaun Phillips and produce a formidable pass rush, English has not panned out, only recording seven sacks so far in his career.
He played behind Phillips and Travis LaBoy this season, and outside of his two-sack performance against the Dolphins in Week Four, he has not offered much to an anemic Chargers pass rush that is ranked 29th in the league in sacks.
