Redskins TE Chris Cooley and RB Tim Hightower have been placed on injured reserve, a major hit to a Washington attack that has struggled in recent weeks.
Cooley, who has battled finger and knee injuries this season, just could not get healthy enough for the team to rely on him over the final 10 weeks of the year. He has just eight catches on the season as a backup to Fred Davis.
Hightower tore his ACL on Sunday vs. the Panthers. He was the team's leading rusher through six games with 321 yards. He will be replaced in the lineup by Ryan Torain and Roy Helu.
PFW fantasy spin
Most fantasy owners are unaware Cooley hasn't been a fantasy presence outside Week Three. That week Davis went 1-23-0 on three targets and Cooley went 4-41-0 on five targets. When your season stat line consists of 8-65-0 on 13 targets, which breaks down to 1.6 receptions for 13 yards and zero touchdowns on 2.6 targets per game, you have no fantasy relevance. His loss doesn't make Davis a better fantasy tight end, but perception is reality, and many believe Davis will see a bump in production, so sell high if you can.
