Broncos head coach John Fox confirmed that RB Willis McGahee suffered a broken hand in Denver's win over Miami. McGahee will have surgery later this week and will have to miss Sunday's game against the Lions.

Before leaving the game, McGahee had 18 carries for 76 yards, giving him 460 rushing yards on the season, which surpassed last year's total and is good for fifth in the AFC.

McGahee has been the team's starting tailback, ahead of Knowshon Moreno. Lance Ball got the carries after McGahee exited.

PFW fantasy spin

Broncos RB Lance Ball (6-14-0 rushing) could see more playing time next week as Knowshon Moreno (7-28-0 rushing, 2-10-0 receiving) is not showing the ability to play in the NFL. Moreno will get the start, but Ball will see time. Both players are bye-week or injury fill-ins right now. This will play itself out. Moreno has not seen the field much, but this will tell us if he has the talent to make it with this Broncos team that's in rebuilding mode.
