Redskins WR Santana Moss broke his left hand and RB Tim Hightower injured his knee in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.

Moss, the team's leading receiver entering Sunday, had two catches for 17 yards before exiting in the first half. Hightower started and rushed for 88 yards on 17 carries before suffering his injury in the third quarter.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that X-rays on Hightower's knee were negative. He will undergo an MRI.

The way we see it

Moss is the team's top receiver, and if he has to miss extended time, look for some of the younger receivers like Anthony Armstrong and Leonard Hankerson to see more time.

At running back, Ryan Torain and Roy Helu combined for three carries in Sunday's game, but the team is deeper in the backfield than at receiver.
