The Falcons are far from satisfied with their overall defensive performance. They have given up 28 points or more three times already this season after having allowed 28 or more only twice during their run to an NFC South title last season. Yet, one encouraging sign for the team has been the play of Sean Weatherspoon. The Falcons drafted him 19th overall in 2010, and he started from Day One. But injuries knocked his rookie season off course, and we saw only flashes of his potential to be a high-energy disrupter at outside linebacker. He is showing better awareness and looks more comfortable this season. He has also been highly productive. Weatherspoon is among the league leaders in tackles with 53 — already 11 more than he had in his 11 games last season. He's one behind MLB Curtis Lofton for the team lead in tackles. He has recorded only one sack but can bring heat off the edge as a blitzer.
