New Raiders QB Carson Palmer is expected to start Sunday against the Chiefs, Adam Schefter reports.
Palmer joined the Raiders on Tuesday following a trade with the Bengals. The Raiders traded their first-round pick in the 2012 draft, as well as a conditional second-round pick in the 2013 draft to Cincinnati for Palmer.
The way we see it
This is a bit surprising given that Palmer has had no official football activity since the end of the 2010 season. Some expected that he would take this week to get acclimated to playing football again and to learn the playbook, while Kyle Boller would takes the reigns against the Chiefs.
Palmer does have familiarity with Raiders head coach Hue Jackson, as they were together with the Bengals, but his ability to digest the playbook and get comfortable with brand-new receivers in a few days isn't guaranteed. This decision says something about Palmer's football acumen and the lack of confidence the team has in Boller.
