It was a long wait after being inactive in each of the first five games, but second-round pick Stephen Paea quickly made his presence felt in his NFL debut Sunday.
Paea was credited with supplying the pressure when Vikings QB Donovan McNabb went down in the endzone, resulting in a safety in the first quarter. Paea was credited with the sack on the play.
Undrafted WR Dane Sanzenbacher had only one catch Sunday, but it was a big one. He caught a 13-yard TD pass from QB Jay Cutler in the second quarter, giving Chicago a 22-3 lead. Sanzenbacher has a team-high three TD catches this season.
The Bears promoted third-round pick Chris Conte to first-string free safety last week after the coaching staff decided to bench Brandon Meriweather. Conte made his first career start Sunday and made six tackles against the Vikings, which was second-most on the team. It appears Conte earned himself another start — he was listed first on the team's unofficial depth chart released Tuesday.
Undrafted TE Kyle Adams made a key block on Devin Hester's 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Adams cleared Vikings CB Marcus Sherels out of Hester's way. Adams also fielded Chris Kluwe's free kick at Chicago's 44-yard line after the Bears sacked Donovan McNabb for a safety.
Undrafted S Anthony Walters, who was called up from the practice squad last week, made his NFL debut vs. the Vikings and was also on the kickoff-return team for Hester's TD run.
First-round pick Gabe Carimi missed his fourth straight game with a subluxation of his right kneecap. The Bears will update his status later this week, but it would be no surprise if he sits out Sunday's game against the Buccaneers in London.
