There's little question this has been a trying season so far for Redskins TE Chris Cooley, who has been limited in action with a knee that continues to be swollen. Because of an injury to Darrel Young, he also has been forced to play a role at fullback, which has limited his effectiveness as a receiver, all while Fred Davis has become the primary receiving option in his place. But Cooley also wasn't thrilled when head coach Mike Shanahan revealed that Cooley recently had his knee drained. The good news is that it has limited him only in practice but hasn't kept him out of games; Cooley can manage the pain and fight through it. Though his effectiveness has diminished somewhat and he likely never will be the deep seam receiver he once was, Cooley says he thinks he is playing well in the role he's being asked to play. He looks at Sunday's game against the Eagles as a great measuring stick for how he has progressed with the injury.
