Both second-year pro Marshall Newhouse and first-round rookie Derek Sherrod earned solid reviews at left tackle and right tackle, respectively, after veteran OLT Chad Clifton was carted off the field with a hamstring injury in Week Five. But the consensus is that Newhouse, who has come a long way in a short time, is considered far ahead of Sherrod in his development. In his first sustained action at the pro level, though, Sherrod did look surprisingly comfortable at right tackle — a position he told team insiders he played only as a freshman at Mississippi State — after Newhouse, who was replacing injured starting ORT Bryan Bulaga, moved over to left tackle to replace Clifton. There was some speculation the Packers might move Bulaga to left tackle in place of Clifton, who we hear could be out for an extended period. But our sources tell us the team never seriously considered such a move.
