The Patriots placed DL Mike Wright on injured reserve (concussion) and re-signed DB Phillip Adams to the 53-man roster.
Wright played in the season opener and recorded a ½ sack but was inactive the last four games. He played in 10 games last season and led the team with 5½ sacks, but went on injured reserve with a concussion.
New England signed Adams, a former 49er, on Sept. 21. He was active for Weeks Three and Four but did not play. He played in 15 games for San Francisco last season.
The way we see it
This is a very tough blow for Wright to be placed on I.R. for the second year in a row with a concussion.
On the field, Wright was key for the team's interior pass rush last season. The unit becomes weaker, as Myron Pryor is already on I.R., DL Brandon Deaderick is on the physically-unable-to-perform list and Albert Haynesworth has not been healthy.
