The Packers announced Thursday that they have signed C-OG Cecil Newton to the practice squad.

Newton, a 6-2, 315-pound first-year player out of Tennessee State, signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in May 2009. He spent the first 14 games of the '09 season on Jacksonville's practice squad before being signed to the active roster for the final two contests (inactive for both). He also was with the Jaguars during the 2010 preseason and the Saints in the ’11 preseason.
