Despite Charlie Whitehurst's winning effort out of the bullpen in a stunning upset victory over the Giants in relief of an injured Tarvaris Jackson, team insiders tell us head coach Pete Carroll really does remain "totally committed" to Jackson as the starting QB. "The team kept saying that, if you just give Jackson some time, he would start to show what he can do," one team insider said. "In a more up-tempo offense the last two games, that's exactly been the case. Suddenly, he started getting more time to find his intended receivers." That said, there would appear to be a slight window of opportunity for Whitehurst if Jackson's strained pectoral muscle keeps him on the sideline for the Seahawks' next game at Cleveland — which at this writing looks like a definite possibility — and if Whitehurst leads the team to its second consecutive victory in the Eastern time zone and looks really good in the process.
