The Buccaneers released RB Allen Bradford on Thursday, creating a spot on the 53-man roster in case they decide to activate FS Tanard Jackson. Jackson had been suspended but was reinstated by the league on Tuesday. The team has two weeks to activate him, during which time he is roster-exempt.
Bradford, a sixth-round pick in April, played in just one game for the team, last Sunday vs. the 49ers. He rushed five times for just 13 yards.
The way we see it
Though it's no surprise the team cleared a roster spot for Jackson, releasing a running back was a surprise. LeGarrette Blount, the starter at the position, has a knee injury and may not be able to play this week, leaving the team with just two healthy backs. Don't be surprised if there is another move made soon, or if the team tries to re-sign Bradford to its practice squad.
