The Seahawks have traded LB Aaron Curry to the Raiders for draft picks in 2012 and ’13, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports.

Curry, the fourth overall pick in the 2009 draft, lost his starting job this season. He has 22 tackles and two passes defended this season.

The way we see it

Curry was a major disappointment after being selected in the top five of the 2009 draft. He had become pretty good at sealing the edge on runs, but his lack of sacks and big plays led to him falling out of favor in Seattle.

The Raiders have been known to gamble on high-round misfits with speed and athleticism, and Curry fills the bill. The move also represents their disappointment in the play of Quentin Groves, whom they have expected more from.

Curry has all the talent in the world, and a change of scenery might work wonders for him. With a strong, young middle linebacker in Rolando McClain, the Raiders hope Curry can flash the playmaking skills that made him a top-five pick and create a strong LB corps for years to come.
