Browns DE Marcus Benard was charged Tuesday with reckless operation and driving under suspension after a motorcycle accident Monday, multiple media outlets reported.

According to a report filed by Brooklyn, Ohio, police that was posted on the website of The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, a witness said Benard passed him "at a high rate of speed" on a motorcycle and crossed all four lanes of traffic on I-71 North before striking a guardrail. According to the police report, Benard, who suffered a broken hand, was thrown 241 feet.

According to The Plain Dealer and The Associated Press, Benard has an Oct. 18 court date in Parma, Ohio.
