Here is a look at how the Patriots' first-year players performed in the team's Week Five win over the Jets.

ORT Nate Solder (first round, 17th overall) — Solder got his third start in a row with Sebastian Vollmer still out and played well yet again against a very physical Jets front. Solder got some help on plays from an extra tight end as a blocker, but overall continues to fill in nicely in pass protection and run blocking.

RB Stevan Ridley (3, 73) — Fantasy owners were probably disappointed that Ridley, who was coming off a 97-yard game, wasn't productive against the Jets. Ridley had seven carries for 13 yards in the win, as the Patriots went with the hot hand, BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Notes: CB Ras-I Dowling (2,33) was active but did not play. ... RB Shane Vereen (2, 56) was active and assisted on a special-teams tackle. ... QB Ryan Mallett (3, 74) was inactive. ... LB Jeff Tarpinian (undrafted) was active and contributed on special teams. ... LS Danny Aiken (undrafted) remained perfect on his snaps.
