The NFL announced Tuesday that it has reinstated Buccaneers S Tanard Jackson from his suspension. The Bucs will have two weeks to activate him to the 53-man roster.

A fourth-round pick in 2007, Jackson has started all 46 games he has played. He has 29 career passes defensed and eight interceptions.

Jackson was first suspended in 2009 for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He was then suspended again on Sept. 22 of last year.

"I'm very anxious to get back on the field and to be back with my teammates. I'm think I'm in great condition and ready to play," Jackson told the Tampa Tribune.

The way we see it

We've been told by those close to Jackson that he is ready to play, but it could take him a while to knock off the rust after a long layoff. Jackson was a very promising young player before his suspension began and he could provide a huge boost to the Bucs if he picks up where he left off.
