Chad Henne's season-ending shoulder surgery means the Matt Moore era is set to begin for the 0-4 Dolphins. Moore takes over for a team that has a coach squarely on the hot seat and an offense that ranks 26th in the league in scoring. He showed his confidence, though, in completing a 31-yard pass to rookie Charles Clay on his first play after replacing Henne.
"He's a confident guy, little bit of different swagger to him when he gets in the huddle," head coach Tony Sparano said. "I don't think much really fazes Matt."
You rarely heard about Henne having any "swagger," and Moore likely will take more chances than Henne did, but that might mean more interceptions — he threw 10 in six games last season, as accuracy is not his strong suit.
This might be the time for offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to get more flexible in terms of using Reggie Bush by getting him the ball in space as a receiver more often. That plays to Bush's skill set better than having him run between the tackles and should take some pressure off Moore.
