The Jaguars have rewarded promising WR Mike Thomas with a three-year extension, sources tell Pro Football Weekly.
Thomas will receive $18 million total with $9 million guaranteed. The signing bonus is for $6 million and his base salaries are guaranteed through 2013.
The Jaguars' leading receiver through four games, Thomas has 20 receptions for 212 yards and one TD. No other pass catcher has more than seven receptions.
Thomas led the team in receiving last season with 66 catches for 820 yards.
The way we see it
Thomas is the Jaguars' one standout among a weak receiving corps, and the club was wise to reward him with an extension as he continues to develop a rapport with rookie QB Blaine Gabbert. Jacksonville's philosophy is to reward its own, and the club has done just that with Thomas and TE Marcedes Lewis, who was given a long-term extension prior to the season.
