Colts second-year LBs Pat Angerer and Kavell Conner are getting a lot of attention for their play in recent weeks — and with good reason. In Week Three against the Steelers, Angerer was a one-man wrecking crew, piling up an eye-popping 20 tackles. Not to be outdone, in Week Four against the Buccaneers, Conner recorded 18 tackles. We hear the future appears bright for this young tandem, and although they have a long way to go before their coverage skills catch up to their tackling, they have made a strong impact on the Colts' improved run defense. SLB Philip Wheeler, once again a starter following the season-ending injury to Gary Brackett, also has made strides. Wheeler was demoted last season because of his inconsistent play, but he has played with more discipline since returning to the starting lineup. Always a lethal hitter, Wheeler has done a better job of wrapping up and finishing plays.
