How does it feel, all you Packers fans, to be feeling such all-out sports bliss at the moment in your home state of Wisconsin?
Pretty darn good, I have to think.
Guess some states have all the luck. Not only have your Packers picked up where they left off last season, actually looking like they might be an even better team than last year's championship squad with an offense that is definitely more well-rounded and explosive than ever. Your baseball Brewers are displaying serious World Series potential, wiping up on the Diamondbacks in impressive fashion, and your college football Badgers took no prisoners on their way to making Nebraska look like Bethune-Cookman.
Must be nice.
And, as was pointed out to me this morning by fellow PFW editor Eli Kaberon, it turns out you've got some fast company in nearby Michigan, where both the pro football Lions and the pro baseball Tigers are creating a sports high of the highest order.
And what do we have here in Illinois?
Oy! Did you have to ask?
How about a pair of baseball teams in a state of flux with new managers on the horizon (no, Mike Quade will not be back with my beloved Cubs) and a pro football team in the 2-2 Bears that has been wildly inconsistent on both sides of the ball.
God, I'm jealous.
Especially when it comes to the Packers, who continue to take care of business with steady efficiency off the field as well as on it, as evidenced by the well-deserved new contract they just gave to WR Jordy Nelson, who would have been quite a catch for another team had he received an opportunity to test the free-agent market.
Right now, it looks like the rich just keep getting richer just north of PFW's home base. Party on, my Green Bay app amigos.
While I remain very green with envy just to the south.
