Vikings-Chiefs prediction

The Chiefs have yet to get a lead in a game this season. The Vikings have yet to hold a lead in a game this season. Something will have to give Sunday.

While the Chiefs, especially their pass defense, looked respectable against the Chargers, it's hard to forget their first two losses by a combined 89-10. They lack explosion in the passing game with Matt Cassel and don't have the same running game, without Jamaal Charles, that protected him a season ago. With an offensive line that has struggled in pass protection, Jared Allen and Brian Robison could be in for another big game.

Adrian Peterson needs to be the focus of this game for the Vikings. The Chiefs have had their struggles against the run this season, and Peterson should be able to have another strong game. Making Donovan McNabb a game manager should be the goal. Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali will have his way with Charlie Johnson if the Vikings get too pass-happy.

I expect this game to be a low-scoring, field-position battle, with both teams trying to minimize turnovers and let their defenses work. Expect either a huge special-teams play or a long Peterson run to be the difference.

Prediction: Vikings 13, Chiefs 6
