Bailey's fill-ins doing a solid job

The Broncos' pass defense has had some issues this season, thanks in large part to a hamstring injury that has kept their best cornerback, veteran Champ Bailey, on the sideline.

With the Pro Bowler out, the team has had to turn to a pair of young players, Cassius Vaughn and Jonathan Wilhite, to fill in. Though neither player is of Bailey's caliber, the two replacements have shown Denver's coaches they can be counted on, both in terms of downfield pass coverage and in run support. Vaughn has filled in admirably in Bailey's spot on the outside, while Wilhite has proven to be a strong blitzer and solid defender in the flats while playing in the nickel.

"Every rep is a valuable learning experience for all those guys," defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said of Vaughn and Wilhite. "I think every time they get out there, they get a chance to learn and experience different things."
