The Patriots' offensive, defensive and special-teams players of the week from their Week Three loss to the Bills.

Offense: WR Wes Welker

Welker had an outstanding game. He finished with 16 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns. His TD on fourth down in the fourth quarter tied the game for New England. Welker torched every corner the Bills put on him. He continued to find space and make plays after the catch. TE Rob Gronkowski is a runner-up with his 7-109-2 receiving performance.

Defense: CB Kyle Arrington

It wasn't a banner day for the Patriots' defense, which has struggled thus far this season. They gave up 17 fourth-quarter points to Buffalo and didn't record a sack. The one bright spot was CB Kyle Arrington, who had two interceptions and added another pass defensed on the game in addition to six tackles. A starter last year, Arrington is now the team's No. 4 corner, but with Ras-I Dowling out, Arrington saw plenty of snaps in the secondary and made the most of it.

Special teams: P Zoltan Mesko

The Patriots tried out a pair of punters this week after Mesko suffered an injury in Week Two, but he looked healthy on Sunday. Of his three punts, two landed inside the 20-yard line. His net average was 40 yards and he had a long of 57.
