Changing starters at the safety position was almost a weekly affair for the Jaguars in 2010, with six different starting combinations being trotted out by season's end. Jacksonville made it two weeks into the '11 campaign before another change was made. The club is pleased with new addition Dawan Landry at strong safety, but FS Courtney Greene, who is at his best playing in the box, has been demoted in favor of fourth-year veteran Dwight Lowery, acquired in a trade from the Jets in early September. We hear the demotion of Greene, who played poorly against the Jets in Week Two, is unsurprising. He is a liability in pass coverage and might have lost his starting job to rookie Chris Prosinski before the season started had Prosinski stayed healthy in camp. Lowery's range and ball skills are superior to Greene's, and the Jaguars' pass defense should benefit from the swap. Greene's hitting ability should make him a valuable special-teams contributor.
