With so many skill-position players on the roster who deserve playing time and touches, the Chargers are mixing and matching their lineups depending on the situation and the opponent. WR Vincent Jackson, who primarily lines up outside, was in the slot for part of the team's Week Two game against the Patriots, switching spots with TE Antonio Gates, who mainly stayed outside the numbers.

FB Jacob Hester, who mainly is used as a lead blocker but also occasionally as a runner and receiver, told PFW that head coach Norv Turner likes to move players around to get the most out of his depth chart.

"Norv is one of the best coaches at putting people in a position to succeed," Hester said. "A lot of our guys on offense can play a lot of different places, so he puts them in a place to succeed and he has play-calls for almost everybody. So, if we believe in the game plan and do what he says, our offense can be successful."
