The Patriots announced Wednesday that they placed starting C Dan Koppen and DL Myron Pryor on season-ending injured reserve.

Koppen suffered an ankle injury in the Patriots' season-opening win at Miami. Dan Connolly, who started against the Chargers Sunday, will continue to start in Koppen's place. Pryor was apparently injured against the Chargers in Week Two, suffering what the team said is a shoulder injury.

In their places, the team signed DB Phillip Adams and DL Landon Cohen to the 53-man roster. Terms of the contracts were not announced.

Adams, a second-year player out of South Carolina State, played 15 games for the 49ers last season.

Cohen, a three-year veteran, was released by the team on Sept. 3 after playing two games with New England last season and participating in training camp with the team this season.

The way we see it

Connolly has been a solid, versatile player for the Patriots who has played multiple positions along the line. While he isn't the same caliber player as Koppen, the offense didn't miss a beat in last week's win against the Chargers.

The challenge for the line will come in the next few weeks as teams have an opportunity to game-plan for the new O-line. How Connolly holds up in those situations will give a clearer answer on the impact of Koppen's loss.
