Here's a key matchup to watch in the Week Three game between the Patriots and Bills:
Patriots pass rush vs. Bills offensive line
The Bills' passing attack hasn't been Tom Brady-like, but it's been pretty potent this season behind the arm of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitz gets rid of the ball quickly in the team's spread attack, but what is different this season is his protection. Fitzpatrick has been sacked just once through two games.
The Bills are strong on the interior of the O-line, but OTs Demetrius Bell and Erik Pears have also played well. TE Scott Chandler and WR David Nelson help block in max protection, helping give Fitzpatrick time.
The Patriots have given up a host of passing yards this season. Part of that is due to frequently being ahead, but the passing defense does not look as improved as some expected. The Pats have recorded six sacks this season, but two of those have come from DE Mark Anderson in garbage time.
The Raiders didn't blitz much against the Bills and it backfired on them. When they did blitz in the fourth quarter, it was picked up. The Pats will do their best to confuse Fitzpatrick with schemes. They would benefit from DLs Andre Carter and Shaun Ellis winning one-on-one battles to make life difficult for the Bills' passing game.
