The NFL fined Falcons CB Dunta Robinson $40,000 for his vicious hit on Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin in Sunday night's Week Two game.

Robinson led with his helmet on the hit and, luckily, Maclin was not injured on the play. Last season, Robinson's violent hit on Eagles WR DeSean Jackson gave both players concussions. He was fined $50,000 for that hit.

The NFL VP of football operations Merton Hanks said to Robinson in a letter, "future offenses will result in an escalation of fines up to and including suspension."

The league's statement added, "On the play, Robinson lowered his head and made forcible contact to the head and neck area of Philadelphia wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Although Maclin completed the catch, he was still a defenseless player under the rule because he did not have time to protect himself and had not clearly become a runner."
